Collective Agreement Association for Charitable Employers (VKA)

The collective bargaining negotiations on the VKA KV (formerly Caritas) started on 21.11.2025. The collective agreement will apply from 1 January 2026 and affects 17,000 employees.

KV negotiation

Gewerkschaft vida

The negotiators of the trade union vida are calling for a significant wage increase above the inflation rate from November 2024 to October 2025.

The care allowance, which currently amounts to at least 135.50 euros per month for full-time employment, is to be anchored in the KV. It is available to colleagues in nursing and social care professions, as well as to those employees who have completed training to support basic care (UBV) in order to carry out their work.

Reduction of working hours and improvements in framework law

The weekly working time is to be reduced to 35 hours per week - with full wage compensation. In the future, it will not be allowed to work more than five days in a row. In addition, overtime bonuses are to be uniformly increased to 50 percent.

Demands in brief:

  • Wage increases above rolling inflation
  • Care subsidy in the collective anchors
  • Reduction of working hours and increase in overtime bonuses

3rd round of negotiations

The 3rd hearing date will take place on February 3, 2026 . At this meeting, framework legal points will be discussed in more detail.

It has already been possible to get the KV supplement for the care subsidy to come into force on 1 January 2026 , provided that the province reimburses the costs.

A total of 550 works councillors of the VkA* (formerly Caritas) took part in the BR conference on 21 January. For the companies of the VkA* (formerly Caritas), the ÖGB issued a strike authorisation.

2nd round of negotiations

The focus of the negotiations on 2 December 2025 was the exchange and explanation of the framework demands of employers and employees.

A rapprochement could be achieved on some points. Unfortunately, we have not received an offer from the employers regarding a wage increase, so we have interrupted the negotiations.

A new date is being coordinated.
