Application for support

Apply for the benefits in writing via e-mail to info@vida.at and send us proof of your situation or the requested documents . This allows us to process your request quickly.

You will receive support from us if you:

  • become unemployed through no fault of your own
  • are unemployed within the meaning of the Unemployment Insurance Act
  • have made full contributions to vida for at least 24 months

The support depends on the duration of your membership and the amount of your full contributions

The prerequisite for a new union unemployment benefit is proof of 12 months' full contributions paid after the last case of support.

When applying, please send us the proof of receipt of unemployment benefit or emergency assistance issued by the Public Employment Service.

If you take part in a strike and suffer a loss of income as a result, you can request strike support. The prerequisite is that the strike is recognised by the union and that you have already paid at least three months' full contributions

The amount of strike support depends on the duration of your membership and the amount of your monthly fee. 

We support you in the purchase or adaptation of a car. The prerequisite for this is:

  • you have been a vida member for at least three years
  • You are working
  • you have had a transfemoral amputation, double amputation or are a wheelchair user 
  • you provide proof of the additional entry in the disability card in accordance with §29b 
  • the use of public transport is unreasonable.

Study support

If you are completing a university degree or a course at an Austrian college, university or university of applied sciences as a regular student, you can apply for study support. The amount is € 100 per academic year.

Matura support 

If you attend a general education or vocational secondary school, you can apply for Matura support. In any case, the prerequisite is that the type of school is completed with a school-leaving examination. The amount of support is € 70 per school year.

Course Grants 

If you are completing a fee-based training or continuing education event, you can apply for a course grant. The course grants apply to the following education and training programs:

  • Language courses for the languages of foreign countries bordering Austria as well as English, French and Spanish, provided that the acquisition of these language skills serves to increase the professionally required qualification
  • Education and training programmes in the field of social skills development
  • Courses for Career-Oriented Examinations
  • Other courses that serve the directly required full-time further qualification

The subsidy amounts to 50 percent of the course costs, up to a maximum of € 60.

You are eligible if your full membership has been valid for at least 12 months.

 

There is no legal entitlement to the granting of educational support. The decision on the granting of educational support is in any case the responsibility of the management of the trade union vida. Apprentices are considered separately.

In the event of an emergency through no fault of their own, the vida support committee can approve extraordinary support, for example in the event of serious illness, accident, disability or disability. No extraordinary support is granted in the event of/for the elimination of ancillary fees, land purchase, house construction, housing renovation and loans (exception in the case of disability and disability).

The extent of the support is determined in each individual case if the conditions are met, taking into account the family, income and general financial situation of the person to be supported.

Initial psychosocial counselling in the event of violence in the workplace

vida members who are affected by violence in the workplace can take advantage of a free initial psychosocial consultation with a team of experts selected by vida. To do so, send us an e-mail to arbeitnehmerinnenschutz@vida.at.

In the event of an accidental hospital stay (both leisure and occupational accident), you will receive € 4 from the first day as an active vida member or pensioner , provided that the stay lasts at least 4 days. You will receive a maximum of € 308 (= 77 days). 

If you have been an active vida member for at least 3 years and have not yet retired, you are entitled to support in the event of permanent disability due to a leisure accident.

Depending on the duration of membership, the total disability support is between € 3,200 and € 6,400. In the case of partial disability, the benefit is calculated on a pro rata basis. 

In the event of the death of an active member or a member who retired after 1971, a funeral fee of up to € 180 is due , depending on the length of membership.

In the event of a death of a non-retired active member due to a leisure accident, a benefit of up to € 1,200 is due, depending on the length of membership.
