Red Cross collective bargaining agreement: Wages rise between 3.3 and 4 percent
The collective agreement (KV) for the employees of the Austrian Red Cross was successfully concluded on Thursday, 19.12.2024.
The new collective agreement will apply to around 8000 employees of the Austrian Red Cross from 1 January 2025. It brings an increase in wages and salaries of between 3.3 and 4 percent. This affects all salary groups, including apprentices and on-call duty. In addition, the supplementary collective agreement for the care subsidy was extended.
Clarity for apprentices and holiday interns
Apprentices also benefit from the innovations: Those who complete an "apprenticeship with Matura" are now entitled to up to ten paid days off to prepare for exams. Clear framework conditions have been created for holiday interns: they are allowed to work a maximum of two months per year until they reach the age of 19 and are paid according to the salary of the second year of their apprenticeship.
Other improvements
The crediting of previous periods of service will be made more generous. Subject-relevant periods can now be taken into account for up to 15 years. Other adjustments concern the increase in the mileage allowance to the new statutory level as well as more precise regulations for leave of absence in the event of inability to work.
