Last year, retail workers sent a strong signal of responsibility with their collective bargaining agreement 0.5 percent below rolling inflation . In doing so, they have made advance payments and have trusted in the stability of the social partnership.

"This trust must now be redeemed," emphasizes vida chairman Roman Hebenstreit. "It was contractually agreed that the compensation would take place this year. And since inflation is above the forecast 2.3 percent, it is clear: Now it's the employers' turn to keep their promises!"

Loss of purchasing power must be fully compensated for

We will not allow employees to be left with their losses. An agreement below inflation means a loss of real wages. This is nothing more than an attack on our purchasing power, our standard of living and our existence.

Anyone who shirks responsibility now not only gambles away the trust of the employees, but also endangers the credibility of the entire social partnership.

Our demands on employers

For justice to happen, we need now:

  • Full compensation for the previous year's loss – 100 percent of purchasing power must be replaced.
  • An agreement above the current inflation – this is the only way we can achieve real wage growth.
  • Reliability in the social partnership – agreements must be kept.

The moment of truth

We make it clear: The time for excuses is over. Now the employers have to deliver. "The eyes of the entire trade union movement are on these negotiations. It's about more than just numbers – it's about trust, fairness and justice," says Hebenstreit.
