MPreis: Workers' works council elected for the first time
After the employees, the approximately 680 workers of the company MPreis now also elected their works council.
Establishment of works council
The Tyrolean supermarket chain MPreis finally has an internal representation of interests. The chairman of the ten-member works council is Michael Stockklausner. He has been working for the company for over 30 years. "It is very important to us to create and improve fair working conditions together with the company," said Stockklausner on the occasion of his election. His list "Working together fairly" received 96% approval.
vida as the responsible trade union
While the GPA trade union was responsible for electing employees to the works council, the election of workers now falls within the remit of the vida trade union. Emanuel Straka, vida Regional Secretary Tyrol, commented: "I am very pleased about the successful election and the encouragement of the employees for the works council. The new team is highly motivated and extremely committed, and I am convinced that the company and the workers will benefit enormously from the works council that has finally been appointed."
A works council is good for everyone
According to the Labour Constitution Act, a staff representative must be elected in companies with five or more employees on the initiative of the employees. Studies show that not only the employees, but also the company and the management benefit from the existence of a works council. The working atmosphere is demonstrably better, the employees are healthier, a works council creates trust and promotes exchange.
