Almost 6,000 signatures against cuts in Vienna's health sector
Successful handover of petition to Vienna's City Councillor for Health
We care together
On December 16, 2025, the alliance Wir Sorge Gemeinsam handed over the petitions against the planned austerity measures in Vienna's health care system to City Councillor for Health Peter Hacker.
"We Care Together" consists of the trade union vida, employees from the health sector and activists from civil society.
We fight for:
- Better working conditions in the health sector
- Fair wages
- A good health system for all
Broad support from the workforce and civil society
Almost 6,000 people (3,841 employees and 1,993 people from civil society in solidarity) signed the petition within a few weeks . This sent a strong signal for our demands: not a job less, but an improvement in working conditions!
Mandate to employers and city government
With the petition, the employees have given those responsible a clear ultimatum: If no solution is found by the end of the year, there is a threat of industrial action.
Willingness to talk signalled
Peter Hacker was willing to talk – we therefore trust that he and the employers will meet our demands.
