KV Ordensspitäler Oberösterreich: New negotiation date on February 4
Strikes are having an effect – employers now ready for fifth round of negotiations after lip service
KV negotiation
The large-scale strikes in the religious hospitals of Upper Austria on 22 January, in which around 2,000 employees took part, are showing their first effects: The employers' side has complied with the request of the trade union vida and has agreed to another round of negotiations on the collective agreement (KV) for the approximately 10,000 hospital employees affected.
The next hearing will take place on 4 February 2026.
The demands of the employees remain valid:
Wage and salary adjustments to compensate for inflation, as well as a gradual reduction in working hours to relieve the burden on staff in the long term.
Strikes strengthen negotiating team
"After days of only lip service from the employers, but now there is finally movement in the talks, we can continue to negotiate," explains Martina Reischenböck, collective bargaining negotiator of the trade union vida.
She is cautiously optimistic about the fifth round of negotiations:
"With the strikes, the employees have impressively proven that they stand united behind their demands. Employers cannot ignore this signal. Now it is their turn to present a fair offer so that a solution at the negotiating table is possible."
