Services
The country needs new talent: they have a right to new and modern training places. And this is exactly why the trade union vida and AK Vienna, through their expert committee, have opened the New Talents Studio, a modern and contemporary training salon for hairdressers, beauticians and chiropodists in Vienna's Sonnwendviertel.
Wide range of offers for apprentices
The Fachstudio is a training centre with a wide range of courses for future journeymen. Here, the prospective specialists can practice with trainers both theoretically and practically in direct contact with customers. "Volunteers" are also always welcome. You can have yourself styled on site at the material cost price. The courses can also be completed with funding from the AMS.
Craftsmanship meets zeitgeist
On June 29, 2023, the opening of the training studio took place with a performance exhibition and the hairstyle show "Craftsmanship meets Zeitgeist". The apprentices showed their skills. At the all-day Open Doors in the New Talents Studio, not only representatives of AK Vienna and the trade union vida praised the achievements of the future specialists: Among many others, the Viennese vida State Women's Chairwoman and Vienna State Parliament Member Yvonne Rychly, the vida State Chairman Vienna and AK Vienna Vice President, Helmut Gruber and the Viennese vida Country Managing Director Susanne Hasse were present. The star guest of the day was undoubtedly Miss Vienna and Miss Europe Beatrice Turin, who herself trained as a hairstylist before her career as a model and artist, among other things.
Teaching is an important foundation for a career
AK President Renate Anderl and the Chairwoman of the service trade union vida, Roman Hebenstreit, also praised the achievements of the apprentices on site. Both thanked the organisers of the studio, the trainers and apprentices for their great commitment. The AK President also thanked the colleagues involved here in the studio and in the expert committee: "It is not a matter of course that we are all standing here together today."
"I am very pleased to be able to support this initiative with the AK and wish all those who work here every success in completing their apprenticeship. Teaching is the important foundation on which one can build one's whole life. Many of those who can be found at the top have started their careers with an apprenticeship. It is important that you also get the chance to come to such a foundation."
Accompanying and supporting young people
"A lot of people talk about good things to do. Trade unions and the Chamber of Labour are doing good things. With this project, the trade union and AK prove that accompanying young people on their path through life is a great concern for us," said vida chairman Roman Hebenstreit. This is reflected in several things.
"We try to give young people support here, to be able to plan, organize and complete an appropriate career path. And let's not forget: trade unions are also fighting for fair and good wages."
Major challenge for service industries
The service sector is also a major challenge for trade unions. For the first time this year, it was possible to achieve a hearty wage agreement for the hairdressers. vida wants to raise the apprentice's income in the first year of apprenticeship from 700 to 1000 euros with a step-by-step plan. "With your support, we will make it. You can only do these good things if you have a lot of people behind you. The task of trade unions is to organise cohesion and solidarity. The more we are, the more we can achieve in our common interest and also develop the industries with their working conditions accordingly," Hebenstreit emphasized.
It's nice to work for people
"We need people who are also active in these areas. Therefore, thank you to all those who are involved here or who agree to go into service and accept these jobs. Working for people is something beautiful. Our part as trade unions is to support you in doing this in the best possible way," affirmed the vida chairman.
