Collective bargaining agreement for freight transport - up to 3 percent more wages

After intensive negotiations with the employers, vida reached a collective agreement for employees in the freight transport industry for 2026.

Depending on the wage group, wages will increase by a total of around 75 to 89 euros gross per month.

The key data of the collective bargaining agreement

From 01.01.2026:

  • Wages in wage group 1 and apprentices will increase by 3 percent 
  • Wages in wage groups 2 to 7 will increase by 2.7 percent
    • This corresponds to an increase of about 58 to 69 euros per month
  • The diets will increase by 4.5 percent to a daily rate of 27.6 euros
    • This corresponds to an increase in diets of about 17 to 20 euros per month for full-time workers.
    • By 01.01.2029 at the latest, the salaries must be increased to 30 euros per daily rate or at least every year by the agreed wage increase.

For the final apprenticeship examination, 1 day is paid for preparation and 1 day for the examination.

Calculation

In companies without a works council , by means of an individual agreement.

In companies with a works council only by means of a works agreement, the calculation can be made from:

  • 01.01.2027 to be extended to 39 weeks
  • 01.01.2028 to be extended to 52 weeks
  • Part-time employees are integrated into the calculation models.

At the beginning of next year, talks will be held on the further development of the wage scale and the collective bargaining framework law. This involves better consideration of driver training and job profiles as well as other improvements in framework law.
