Airport collective agreement 2025: plus 3.3 percent for 6,500 employees
Trade unions vida and GPA reach quick agreement for airport employees together with the Chamber of Commerce
The collective agreement negotiations for workers and employees at Austria's airports have been successfully concluded: In just two rounds of negotiations, the trade unions vida and GPA agreed on a new collective agreement together with the aviation professional group of the Association of Bus, Aviation and Shipping Companies of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ). Wages and salaries will increase by 3.3 percent, retroactively to May 1, 2025. The new collective agreement applies to around 6,500 employees and has a term of one year.
Swift agreement – strong social partnership
"We have succeeded in reaching a fair solution without conflicts. This result underlines the strength of the social partnership when both sides work together in a solution-oriented manner," emphasise David John (vida) and Thomas Schäffer (GPA) as chief negotiators of the trade unions as well as Günther Ofner, chairman of the aviation professional group.
3.3% plus: recognition for good economic development
The collective bargaining agreement is based on the pleasing business performance in the airport industry last year. The wage increase of 3.3% ensures that employees participate in this positive development. Especially in a challenging environment with increasing passenger numbers and growing personnel requirements, this upgrade is an important signal.
"It shows once again that a partnership style and a mutual, pragmatic approach to each other are essential components of a lively social partnership."
Review & Outlook
After the crisis years caused by the pandemic, aviation is on the upswing again. At the same time, the demands on airport staff are increasing. The new collective agreement not only brings a financial improvement, but also stability and planning security for thousands of employees who ensure safe and functioning air traffic every day.
