One union – many stories. Solidarity that connects generations.

A family that sticks together - what could be better? The family on our magazine cover also sticks together. Several generations, many stories and a strong sense of togetherness connect the Schimpel-Gold-Schieder family. For over 100 years, her heart has been beating for the railways – and for the trade union. In this issue, family members Manuela and Markus tell us why they are still "on track" today - and why solidarity is always "on the ball" for them. More from page 6.

Especially in times when cohesion counts, it also shows how important it is to take good care of yourself. Many go to work despite being ill – out of a sense of duty, out of concern for their colleagues or because the pressure is too great. In our article on "presenteeism", we explain why this behavior is not good for anyone in the long run and why superiors have an important role model function. More on page 17.

Back to the Schimpel-Gold-Schieder family. Manuela and Markus look to the future with confidence – also when it comes to the commitment of their union. Because one thing is certain: vida continues to be courageous and at the side of the employees - from apprenticeship to retirement.

We wish you an exciting read, happy holidays and a good start to the new year!
