20 years of the vida trade union. Together into the future.
vida Magazine
Twenty years of vida – that's twenty years of concentrated and lived solidarity. From its foundation in 2006 to the present day, Austria's transport and services trade union vida has developed into a strong voice for employees. But 2026 is not a year of looking back – it is a year of new beginnings. The challenges of our time require more trade union strength than ever. More on pages 6–9, 12–13.
The labour market in particular shows how important solidarity is. Those who lose their job at an older age often find it particularly difficult to regain their footing – despite decades of experience and performance. This makes it all the more important to have a strong representation of interests at your side. The fact that trust in the Chamber of Labour and the ÖGB is still high is no coincidence, but the result of consistent work, a clear stance and reliable support – in good times as well as in challenging times. More on pages 5, 10 and 11.
In a time of uncertainty, the union offers cohesion instead of division, solidarity instead of competition, co-determination instead of powerlessness. We promise: We will continue to fight – for the rights and interests of all those who keep this country running day after day, from apprenticeship to retirement.
It's great that you are part of our strong trade union family! Here's to a powerful and successful year 2026!
