The alliance "We Drive Together" (transport union vida, AK Vienna, bus drivers and the climate protection organisations Fridays For Future and System Change, not Climate Change!) will present the new study "Drivers at the Limit" in cooperation with the University of Vienna at a press conference on Thursday, 19 December 2024. The study examined the current working conditions and employment relationships in private bus services in Austria. It shows where and what changes in working conditions are necessary to make the profession of bus driver more attractive, to retain existing workers and to be able to attract new ones to the industry, which is suffering from staff shortages.

The starting point for the survey is the importance of public bus transport as a critical infrastructure for a climate-friendly mobility transition, which is called for by the alliance "Wir-Fahren-Gemeinsam". The study by AK Vienna and the University of Vienna focuses on drivers who are covered by the collective agreement for private bus companies, for which the trade union vida is responsible. By means of a combination of qualitative interviews conducted with 22 drivers nationwide, and a quantitative online survey, in which over 600 drivers participated, their needs and wishes were obtained

The press conference can also be followed via livestream.
