The spotlight belongs to the stars. But without the people who work in the background, there would be no show. At major events such as the Eurovision Song Contest, we experience glamour and emotions. What we often overlook is that security and smooth processes do not happen by themselves. They are the result of hard work – carried by people who don't get applause but are nevertheless indispensable, such as Charlotte Rentsch and Dominik Köller – the two guards on our magazine cover. More on this on pages 4 to 9.

Security is not a coincidence. Nor is it a privilege. It is a right – especially with a view to our future. In this issue, we also take a look behind the headlines and show why the Austrian pension is not a discontinued model, but a successful model that we can rely on. More on this on pages 10 to 11.

Back to Charlotte and Dominik: Security is created by people – by their commitment and cohesion. This is exactly what the trade union movement stands for: it makes visible what is often overlooked and advocates for fair working conditions and real security.
