"We drive together" is the alliance of the climate movement with the trade union vida and the bus drivers of public transport.
We ride together!
Together, we are campaigning for better working conditions.
For a successful mobility turnaround in Austria, we need smoothly functioning public transport. This includes the bus system, which is carried by the responsible drivers.
However, the current working conditions of bus transport are in need of improvement. Working days of more than twelve hours, no night and Sunday bonuses and a lack of infrastructure such as break rooms or toilets push bus drivers to their mental and physical limits.
If they want to be warm on the bus and therefore leave the parking heater running, this leads to fines. Under these conditions, many who can leave the profession and too few young people follow.
The mobility turnaround is falling by the wayside.
For us as an alliance, it is clear: The fight for fair working conditions in the bus industry is closely linked to the climate justice issue! Therefore, the climate movement stands in solidarity with the bus drivers of public transport and supports the demands of the trade union vida for better working conditions!
