When you are sick, it is no longer your guardian who writes your apologies, but you have to go to the doctor and get a sick note.
IMPORTANT: Tell your supervisor about your illness as soon as possible. At the request of the instructor, you must submit a certificate of incapacity for work.
If you are ill and cannot work, your instructor must continue to pay the apprentice's income for a certain period of time.
You get the full apprentice income for eight weeks. For another four weeks, you will receive the difference between apprentice income and sick pay from the health insurance company. After that, you will only receive sick pay from the health insurance company.
If you work again in the meantime and then fall ill again in the same apprenticeship year, you are entitled to the full apprentice income for the first three days and the difference between apprentice income and sick pay from the health insurance company for a maximum of six further weeks. After that, you will again only receive sick pay from the health insurance company.
In the event of an inability to work due to an accident at work or an occupational disease, you are entitled to the full apprentice income for a period of up to eight weeks and the difference between apprentice income and sick pay for a maximum of four additional weeks from the health insurance company, regardless of any other inability to work. After that, you will only receive sick pay again.
