Your new vida magazine is here

45 years of union, 45 years of justice. This is not only the personal balance of Josef, who began his professional career at ÖBB in 1979 and joined the trade union movement at the same time (see page 6 in the vida magazine). This is also an example of what is possible when people stick together. The ÖGB was founded in April 1945. With 80 years of history, we show that solidarity makes the difference.

80 years of cohesion

The world has changed a lot in the last 80 years, the climate crisis, digitization and the rising cost of living affect us all. Young people in particular know, like Romana for example (see page 14 in the vida magazine), that a carefree view of the future has long since ceased to be a matter of course. Thanks to her family, Romana also knows how important cohesion is in difficult times. Her grandfather's pension is enough for a good life – thanks to trade unions that have pushed through higher wages and better working conditions.

Always stay a member

In 45 years, Josef has always accompanied "his" union. For many of those years, he was a member of the works council. Now Josef is setting the course for retirement. He already knows: "I will remain a union member!" The stories of Josef and Romana show that solidarity is the key to mastering the challenges of the future. Whether you are just starting your professional life or are already retired – the union is your strong partner – for life!
