With heart and attitude: Committed to good care and healthy work

vida Magazine

Gewerkschaft vida

In TV series like "Emergency Room" or "Grey's Anatomy" they fight for human lives. In real life, this mission is just as dramatic – only without the camera and script. The everyday work in the hospital and in the emergency services is not a staged drama series. Katarina Rezac and Philip Rosenecker – the two working heroes on our magazine cover – know that. The stories of intensive care nurse Katarina and paramedic Philip are representative of many people who work in the health and care sector. Learn more from page 4.

How can we make work fair in challenging times? Social Affairs Minister Korinna Schumann brings decades of experience as a staff representative and trade unionist. She knows what is important: fair incomes, good care, real opportunities – for everyone. In the interview starting on page 10, she talks openly about her plans and gives courage for times to come. But change is also needed in the companies themselves. Because work must not make you sick – regardless of whether you are 20 or 58 years old. Age-appropriate workplaces are not a vision of the future, but a benefit for everyone: more health, more satisfaction, more respect, more from page 16.

Back to Katarina and Philip. One thing is clear: despite all the hurdles, both love their profession. And despite all the resistance, they believe in change. Maybe not overnight. But step by step. With heart, attitude and the power of the many. Because the power of change lies not only in politics, but also in the common attitude.
