Collective bargaining agreement for guarding
In the security industry, collective bargaining wages will rise by 4.1 percent in 2025, well above inflation.
The collective agreement negotiations for employees in the security sector were concluded with a noticeable increase in collective bargaining wages of 4.1 percent. This means that the wage increase is significantly higher than the rolling inflation of 3.8 percent. Allowances will also increase by 4.1 percent, and night bonuses will even increase by up to 10 percent. Throughout Austria, private security services employ around 12,700 employees per year. The new collective agreement for the security industry will apply from 01.01.2025.
Further improvements in the works
Gernot Kopp, who represents the interests of employees in the security sector as chairman of the building management department in the trade union vida, is pleased with the outcome of the negotiations:
"Security forces are active where either large crowds of people gather or where there is not a soul but them, and they draw on broad know-how. Their commitment to the safety of all of us must be appreciated. The current collective agreement is a positive step in this direction."
A longer-term goal of the trade union vida is a night bonus of 50 percent of the hourly wage. "Night work demands an enormous amount from people in terms of health - and that is why we continue to work on improvements here," says vida trade unionist Kopp.
