Trade union vida at the women's strike in Switzerland

At the four-country meeting of women's organizations, there was also a strike for more equal opportunities.

The four-country meeting also led to an evaluation of the European social partner agreement "Women in the Railway Sector". This agreement was officially signed on November 5, 2021. The aim of the agreement is to promote the employment of women in the railway sector. At the signing, the Community of European Railways and Infrastructure Companies (CER) represented the employers and the European Transport Workers' Federation (ETF) represented the workers. Companies in the rail sector have had one year to develop an equality and diversity strategy and two years to implement it. In Austria, ÖBB is already pursuing a concrete goal, namely to increase the proportion of women in the entire group from the current 14 to 17 percent by 2026.

Women's strike for equality

Women still receive lower wages and lower pensions. They take on more unpaid work. And they are confronted with discrimination and harassment . Concrete improvements are finally needed, according to the Swiss trade unions. That is why they are calling for a big feminist strike today and mobilizing both in the workplace, because many inequalities have their roots in the world of work. But also in public, so that the whole society moves!

Ratify the Convention against Sexual Violence

The ILO Convention 190 against sexualised violence in the workplace must also finally be ratified and implemented by Switzerland. This is also the case with the demand for the implementation of the vida women to the Austrian Federal Government, as ILO Convention 190 has not yet been ratified into national law in Austria either.
