We are not only experts in your industry, with a union membership you have many personal advantages

But there is more at stake: because trade unions are based on the principle of solidarity. This means that the more members, the more weight a union has. In this way, the union can represent your interests as an employee and also negotiate your collective agreement.

Yes, the Chamber of Labour also represents the interests of employees. All employees are legally members of the Chamber of Labour. The Chamber of Labour represents the concerns of the many in politics and the public, offers comprehensive advice and representation in labour law and is committed to consumer protection.

The trade unions , on the other hand, are voluntary associations. In order to enforce the interests of the employees, trade unions can also call for strikes . Trade unions are therefore the workers' fighting organisations.

IMPORTANT: In the event of a strike, union members are covered with strike and lockout support .

In addition, the union supports employees with problems at work. For example, if overtime is not paid or there are payroll discrepancies, members can contact their union. The union protects against discrimination and exploitation and, if necessary, also represents its members in court.

With us you can participate, have a say, have a say.

Are you up for it?

Membership in the vida trade union is only 1% of your gross income. The exact amount will be displayed in the registration form before completing your registration.

Converted to your working hours, this is 4 minutes and 48 seconds a day for a 40-hour week that you spend on the union dues. Lower contributions apply, for example, to pensioners, the unemployed and recipients of sick pay.

By the way, you can deduct the full amount of the membership fee from your income tax. It therefore has a tax-reducing effect.

You do not pay a membership fee during maternity leave, military or civilian service, voluntary social year or illness without continued payment. The non-contributory periods will be credited to you if you have already been a member for at least 6 months before.

The membership fee can be collected by deduction of salary/wage in companies or via a SEPA direct debit.

You are a member every month in which you pay your membership fee.

ATTENTION: The longer you are involved, the more benefits you will enjoy as a member of the vida union. After 6 months of membership, for example, you get full legal protection. So, being a member is worth it!

Basically, you can cancel your membership at any time. Send us an e-mail to info@vida.at or contact your responsible vida country organization. You will then no longer pay a membership fee from the following month.

ATTENTION: Of course, we respect the decision to terminate a membership in the vida trade union. Before you take this step, however, we would like to point out to you what a withdrawal means.

  1. Your union is only strong if it has many members. The more members we have, the more we can fight for annual wage and salary increases , for example. Termination of membership counteracts this goal and makes negotiations with employers more difficult.
  2. You personally also benefit from the services of the vida trade union, which are only available exclusively to our members – including legal protection, professional liability insurance and financial support, for example in the event of a strike. However, these benefits only apply to active membership. Once you cancel your membership, you will no longer be entitled to it.

We very much hope that we can convince you with our work to remain a member of your trade union vida! Contact us if you have any further questions.

If you still decide to end your membership, you can also send us a deletion request. We will then delete your data from our system.

No, employers are not informed by the unions about the membership of their employees. Employers are even prohibited from asking employees to join a trade union. If this question is asked anyway, employees do not have to answer or do not have to answer truthfully.
